Can Energy Healing Work at a Distance?

Within energetic and spiritual traditions, healing is understood as something that does not necessarily require physical proximity. Practices such as prayer, meditation, mantra and focused intention have long been used to direct attention towards another person without practitioner and recipient being in the same place.

How It Works

In distance healing, the practitioner works through focused intention, awareness and the energetic method in which they have been trained. Within that spiritual framework, attention may be directed towards the person as a whole or towards particular aspects of the energetic field.

People report very different experiences during this kind of work. Some notice warmth, deep relaxation, tingling, emotional movement or a sense of quietness, while others experience very little during the session itself.

These sensations should not be treated as proof that healing has occurred. Distance healing belongs to an energetic and spiritual understanding of the human being rather than to a scientifically established mechanism.

Physical distance does not prevent the practice from being carried out within that framework. Its value depends upon the quality of the guidance, the method being used and the individual receiving the work, rather than upon dramatic sensations or promises that remote healing must be equally effective for everyone.
